Parish Council News

REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY

8th NOVEMBER 2020

There will be a Remembrance Service at the War Memorial starting at 10.45 a.m.

The Parish Council will be applying the Rule of 6 for outdoor meetings. Face coverings are to be worn to reduce risk of transmission.

Members of the public are legally permitted to stop and watch the event as spectators but must observe the Rule of 6 and social distancing rules. Groups larger than 6 must not mix when in an outdoor public space. (unless they are from one household/support bubble)

All reasonable steps to record the contact details of those attending will be made.  A temporary record will be kept for 21 days, to assist NHS Test and Trace, with requests for that data if needed.  This could help contain clusters or outbreaks.

Stickford Community Centre

The coffee morning planned for Friday 30th October has been cancelled due to work being carried out inside to try to solve the damp problem. Also there will  not be a coffee morning on 27th November as the Community Centre will be undergoing re-decoration. We hope to hold a coffee morning some time in December, date to be advised.

Macmillan coffee morning - Although only a few people came to this event, several donations were made and £90 was raised.

Harvest Auction This was a very successful evening where we all enjoyed ourselves, despite the Coronavirus restrictions.  We had a large selection of produce from apples to vegetables we didn’t know the names of and from honey to cakes, all generously donated by villagers and supporters. Thanks to Richard Richmond the auctioneer,  Lesley Reeson his assistant and Garry Steele who delivered the goods once they had been bought. They made an efficient team, keeping the evening moving. A special thankyou to everyone who supported the event which raised £140 for much needed church funds. Let’s hope next year we won’t all have to sit with masks on and things will be back to normal with the Harvest Supper being held in the Community Centre, followed by the auction.

Church Bookshop The church and bookshop will continue to open on a Thursday morning from 10am to 12 noon. Please come and use the bookshop which has a good stock of all genres of book, including childrens and non fiction.
